ENGINE of Central PA, Nationally Recognized STEM Learning Ecosystem

The ENGINE of Central PA, Empowering the Next Generation of Innovators and Entrepreneurs, a project of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC), fiscal sponsor, is a nationally recognized STEM Learning Ecosystem. The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) along with 15 federal funding agencies, including NSF, NIH, and USDA, listed STEM Learning Ecosystems as the No. 1 priority and a pathway towards success in STEM Education in America (NSTC, 2018). STEM Learning Ecosystems build meaningful regional connections among educators, business and industry partners, out-of-school time programs, STEM expert institutions (such as museums, science centers, institutions of higher education and STEM professional associations), and community-based organizations to prepare students for the opportunities and challenges of the future. Each ecosystem connects to counterparts from across the country and world, enabling the exchange of best practices, information, and resource-sharing. ENGINE of Central PA connects organizations across 12 counties to spark innovation, share best practices, and leverage existing resources aimed at supporting equitable STEM learning that is relevant to the work and life of the region.
